Bequests
and major donations for medical research
For
further information or assistance, or if you would like the Executive Manager
to call and discuss your wishes in confidence, please telephone 8303 5211.
The
Florey Medical Research Fund welcomes bequests and gifts of all sizes to
expand its ability to fund medical research now and in the future.
The
bequest or gift may be a specified cash amount, stocks, shares, or other
securities, property and real estate, or goods. Unless otherwise directed,
bequests and major specific gifts are capitalised and protected against
inflation so that income derived meets the donorsí original wishes,
which can never be undervalued.
Research
is conducted into every type of illness and treatments as well as related
areas such as pain control.
Donors
are welcome to nominate any type of research to benefit from their gift
or bequest. It can be nominated generally (e.g., "cancer research"), or
specifically (e.g., "breast cancer research").
Only
research projects of the highest merit and relevance are funded and all
must be recommended or approved by the Research Committee of the Department
of Health Sciences of Adelaide University.
All
are conducted within The University's Medical School and its teaching hospitals.
In the case of a significant donation or bequest, a separate capital fund
can be established and named in honour of any individual, family, or company.
The
capital will be preserved forever and interest derived from it used to
fund the area of research nominated.
The
Florey Medical Research Fund is happy to arrange assistance with the preparation
of a will and meets any costs required for the preparation of a standard
will that contains support for The Florey Medical Research Fund. |
